Dr. ERIC BOGATIN, Signal Integrity Evangelist, Teledyne LeCroy
Lecture: Reducing losses in differential channels

 

Dr. Eric Bogatin is currently a Signal Integrity Evangelist with Teledyne LeCroy, focusing on helping engineers get to the right answer faster for signal integrity design, measurement and analysis problems.
He received his BS degree in physics from MIT in 1976, and MS and PhD degrees in physics from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1980. He has held senior engineering and management positions at Bell Labs, Raychem, Sun Microsystems, Ansoft, and Interconnect Devices.
Eric has written six books on signal integrity and interconnect design and over 300 papers. Many of these are posted for free download at beTheSignal.com. His latest book “Signal and Power Integrity-Simplified” was published in 2009 by Prentice Hall. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the ECEE department at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he teaches graduate classes on signal integrity topics.

Dr. ISTVAN NOVAK, Senior Principal Engineer, Oracle

Lecture: Power distribution measurements: challenges and solutions 

 

Dr. Istvan Novak is a Senior Principal Engineer at Oracle, working on power and signal integrity modeling, designs and methodologies for mid-range servers. He is the lead-author of the book "Frequency Domain Characterization of Power Distribution Networks" and the executive editor of the book "Power Distribution Design Methodologies". Dr. Novak received his technical education from the Technical University of Budapest, and his Ph.D. degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He organized and led the High Speed Technology Team at the Technical University of Budapest, where his teaching activity covered transmission lines and wave propagation, communications systems, EMC and signal-integrity issues of high-speed designs. He is a Fellow of IEEE and holds twenty five patents in the field of power distribution, signal integrity, precision measurements and digital signal processing. Dr. AVRI FRENKEL, Representative and Tech Support of CST in Israel, Anafa Electromagnetic Solutions Ltd.

Lecture: The Role of Vias in Highspeed Design

 

Dr. Avri Frenkel is currently the manager of Anafa – Electromagnetic Solutions, Israel, a consulting company for antennas, passive RF components and highspeed design; and a representative of CST – Computer Simulation Technology.
He received his B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University Jerusalem in 1970, and his M.Sc. and PhD in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science , Rehovot, in 1972 and 1978 respectively. He worked in Rafael for 17 years holding senior R&D and management positions in EMC/EMI, antennas, antenna arrays and scattering; and then in MSC and Ansoft in software development, support and marketing positions. He started his own consulting company in 2000.
Dr. Frenkel has more than 40 technical papers and several patents. He consults in his fields of expertise to Israeli high-tech companies; supports and gives training courses for the CST simulation tools.

Mr. NITIN BHAGWATH , Technical Marketing Engineer, Mentor Graphics

Lecture: DDR4 and LPDDR4 Board Design and Verification Challenges

 

Nitin is a Technical Marketing Engineer at Mentor Graphics. He has designed and architected high-speed systems for Hewlett Packard and Cisco for the past ten years. He has been with the high-speed simulation group at Mentor Graphics for two years, where he advises simulation design on multi-gigabit SerDes signals, power integrity and DDR memory. Nitin represents Mentor Graphics at the JEDEC memory groups.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Bangalore University, an MS in EE from Purdue University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Mr. ELDAD BAR-LEV, Staff Signal Integrity Engineer, Marvell Israel Ltd.

Lecture: POD DDR Interface Power Noise

 

Eldad started his practical Hardware Design Experience in 1997 in the IDF and later at Galileo Technologies Ltd.
After completing his degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004, he held various positions including System Validation, Reference Designs and Hardware engineer at Marvell Israel Ltd.
Eldad has a strong background in many high speed parallel interfaces such as SRAM, SDRAM and TCAM. He was a consultant in an SRAM QDRII+ Consortium and is a JEDEC member for the SDRAM interface (DDR and LPDDR technologies).
Eldad has held a signal integrity engineer position for the past 10 years.
His expertise includes high speed parallel interfaces package and board designs guidance, signal/power integrity simulation and analysis.

Mr. ALUN MORGAN, Chairman of Isola Werke UK Ltd and Chairman of the EIPC

Lecture: Base Materials Development: Reliability in Low Loss/High Frequency applications

Alun Morgan is Director of OEM Marketing for Isola Group Europe and Managing Director of Isola UK. He also holds the posts of Chairman and Treasurer of the European Institute of Printed Circuits.
Alun began his career as a Research Investigator at the Institute of Physics’ Fulmer Research Institute before joining Nevin Electric as Technical Manager. He joined MAS Electronics in 1982, becoming UK General Manager in 1990. Following the acquisition of MAS by Isola he joined the Isola UK management team becoming a Director in 1999 and was appointed a Corporate Vice President of the Isola Group in 2001. Alun holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Metallurgy from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Surrey, is an Associate of the University of Surrey and a Fellow of the Institute of Circuit Technology.

Mr. ADEE RAN, PHY architect, Communication & Storage Infrastructure Group, Intel Corporation

Lecture: Truth is, the Eye is only in the beholder's mind

Adee Ran received his B.Sc degree in electrical engineering in 1991 and his M.Sc degree in electrical engineering in 2000, both from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). From 1991 to 2003 he was an R&D engineer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In 2003 he joined Intel, where he works as a PHY architect for high-speed serial communication technologies, including Ethernet, PCI Express, and Thunderbolt. Adee is a senior member of the IEEE and an active contributor to the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet working group. He holds five U.S. patents and has several others pending.

Mr. BEN RUBOVITCH, AITC Senior Signal Integrity Development Engineer, Amphenol TCS

Lecture: Interconnect in 25Gbit Signal Integrity guidelines

 

Ben’s experience in Signal Integrity is in the Ethernet and InfiniBand of the high performance computing, storage and the overall data centers’ market He was the Signal Integrity and Electro Magnetic Compliancy research and development group manager at Mellanox Technologies and was responsible for all data rates up to 28Gbit Signal Integrity research on PCB materials, connectors, cables for design rules. In parallel, Ben was part of the electro optical design team focusing on 28Gbit Multi Mode VCSEL based and Single Mode Silicon Photonics modulators.
Today Ben is responsible for the 28Gbit electro optical AOC development for Amphenol.
Ben holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion.

Mr. SHAI SAYFAN ALTMAN, Application Engineer, ANSYS

Lecture: Package and PCB Simulations for EMI compatibility

 

Shai Sayfan Altman is an application engineer at ANSYS. His responsibilities include EMI, signal integrity and power delivery network analysis and characterization. He develops new simulation flows for simulation teams.
Prior to Ansys he worked for CSR as a senior EMI, signal and power integrity engineer, he also worked at “Snell & Wilcox” - a broadcasting company for Video conversion in England, as a Senior Hardware Engineer responsible for signal integrity.
He received a BSc degree in electrical engineering from the Ben-Gurion University, Israel.

Mr. DUDI TASH, SI\PI Expert, Dgtronix

 

Dudi started his practical Hardware Design Experience in 1991 in the IDF and Pegasus Technologies Ltd.
After graduating his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997, he held various positions including Digital HW Engineer in Orckit Communications, Atrica (NSN), Senior HW Engineer in Silicom (part of the RAD Group), Flexlight Networks, and HW Director in Slyde Technologies.
Dudi founded Dgtronix in late 2007 and is the company CEO. Coupled with a strong technical and business background, he leads the Dgronix team with over two decades of hardware design and development experience.
His expertise includes digital high-speed board design, analog design, power supply design, signal/power integrity simulations, RTL design, regulatory design compliance and testing.
Dudi teaches advanced High-Speed Board Design since 2008. He holds a B.Sc.(te) in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, both from Tel Aviv University.
